Private Garden

The garden was established on a rocky slope facing north east. At present the size is approximately 0.8 hectares. The area was densely wooded with poplar and wild olive trees. In an effort to reclaim the site, poplars where removed and are still being removed by hand.

The remarkable trunks of the wild olive trees are now visible with pathways and steps constructed to follow the path of least resistance through the landscape.

Many clivias and other shade plants were planted – including bromeliads, azaleas and ferns with establishment of a micro fern nursery to supply the garden.

The garden has become an attraction for numerous bird species that can be seen at different times of the year. In September the clivias and azaleas provide a spectacle of colour.
